Jamie Brickwood Jr
Trainee Site Carpenter
Son of our carpenter and handyman Jamie Brickwood, Jamie Junior is definitely a chip off the old block!
Like his dad, who started his career on a Government-backed apprenticeship scheme, Jamie Jnr is also on a two-year apprenticeship course, working his way towards a Level 2 qualification in Carpentry and Bench Joinery at New City College Hackney.
Jamie first worked for the Benyon Estate when he was 16 years old, with another contractor. He started college in September 2021, completing a Diploma in Carpentry before being offered the current apprenticeship role 12 months later.
Day to day, he’s responsible for small maintenance jobs, as well as bigger projects such as kitchen installations and sash window fitting/repairs - a particular favourite part of his role. He also enjoys meeting people from all different walks of life.
What’s it like working for his dad though, is he a tough boss?
“He is pretty firm, but has all the knowledge I need…and he still listens when I try to teach him a couple of tricks,” said Jamie Jnr.
