Womenswear Designer brand Markus Lupfer has moved into the De Beauvoir Block in Hackney to house its growing team.

Known for his signature knitwear collections and statement ‘lips’ embellished jumpers and t-shirts, Markus Lupfer launched 20 years ago has now moved to bigger premises in the creative business hub, known as The Block.

His pieces have been worn by the likes of Her Royal Highness Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, actresses Dame Helen Mirren and Sarah Paulson, presenters Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman, Holly Willoughby and Zoe Ball, and comedian Aisling Bea.

The Markus Lupfer label offers a range of women’s clothing, including statement knitwear, t-shirts and bold-patterned dresses and separates.

Monica Ross, Managing Director at Markus Lupfer, said: “The Markus Lupfer brand is all about timeless quality, hand-crafted garments, which are made to last. Markus has a love of travel, nature and is passionate about design and art which inspires many of his designs. We see each piece as an artwork rather than just a piece of clothing.”

The Block is now home to Markus Lupfer’s fifteen employees, including designers, product development, production, merchandising, e-commerce, finance and management. Markus also has an inhouse atelier – a designer’s studio.

“As our team outgrew our previous space, The Block was the only choice for us” Monica said. “Markus lives in the area and had seen The Block when it was under construction. He’d always wanted space here but there hadn’t been any of the right size available - until now! We viewed the space and fell in love with it right away.

“It’s the perfect environment for our team. A bright-open plan office, plenty of natural light which is important for our designers in particular, and it feels very calm. Our old office was over three floors, so there could be a disconnect at times, but being all together on one floor has brought the daily communication up a notch.”

The team of designers draw up around 300 designs each year which are made across the globe, including the UK.
