Artist and designer Ayesha Mansour runs Aah Yes, an art and design studio based in the heart of De Beauvoir Town creating visual identities, marketing collateral, branding materials and artwork for a wide range of clients.

With a colourful and playful style, her clients include Ella’s Kitchen, Pip & Nut, and fitness studios Frame.

Ayesha also takes commissions for prints and artwork for private and corporate clients, characterised by her cheerful use of colour and original combination of graphic design and art.

“It’s often been said that graphic design and fine art don’t necessarily play well together, so I’ve been looking at ways of incorporating the two disciplines. My pieces start life as paper cut outs, before being moved into the digital space and artworked on screen, turned into illustrative sketches using graphic techniques that allow for deeper exploration of the composition. They are then hand-drawn onto canvas, moving back into the physical world to be painted with beautiful, rich buttery oil paints.

“I love combining analogue and digital and creating something that looks like a piece of graphic design but that was actually completed by hand.”

With a background as a brand and marketing manager, Ayesha found her role becoming more strategic and less creative, which inspired her to set up her own studio.

“Aesthetics has always been my thing and I began to find myself less involved in the creative side of branding and marketing, which I so love.

“Now, I’m able to incorporate skills from my previous roles, I understand what brands are looking for and can create still with that strategic element in mind but follow my passion for creating.”

Before setting up on her own in 2019, Ayesha studied graphic design at Shillington, whilst still working her full-time role. She also holds a Diploma in Fashion Retail, an area which helps to inspire her work.

“I take inspiration from a range of sources, including food and fashion, as well as gathering ideas and colour palettes from art and interior design.

“Living in De Beauvoir Town is a great source of inspiration, there are so many different eateries and cuisines right on your doorstep, which influence my work. De Beauvoir is full of creative minds, particularly at The Block, so being in and around these sorts of people is great.

"I love living in De Beauvoir, it's such a little gem."
