De Beauvoir Women’s Institute (DBWI) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this May!

Since the group’s inception in 2014, the DBWI has been bringing together women of all ages to try new activities and make friends in the local community.

Each month, the group meet to catch up and listen to a guest speaker, take part in craft demonstrations, activities and more.

The monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30pm at De Beauvoir Block. The first meeting is free with no need to book.

In addition to the monthly meetings, the DBWI run a range of events to inspire, educate and build relationships between its members. Events include a book club, walking group, fitness classes, a knitting and stitching get-together, and jam and preserve workshops.

To mark this fantastic milestone, the DBWI is hosting an extra special event on Thursday 2nd May at De Beauvoir Block from 7:30pm – and you’re invited!

Join the May meet-up to hear about all the brilliant events and activities from over the last 12 months, as well as what’s coming up in the social calendar. Plus, there will be celebratory cake, party games and lots of networking with members, old and new.

The DWBI is always on the lookout for new members. So, if you’re over the age of 18 and would like to make new friendships and learn a new skill, get in touch via debeauvoirwi@gmail.com to find out more.

Upcoming events include:

  • 6th June: screen printing workshop
  • 4th July: talk on British waterways, plus the Party in the Park in De Beauvoir Square
  • 3rd August: a super summer social
  • 5th September: the annual De Beauvoir Show ‘Blooms, Bakes and Barks’
