Children’s nursery opens in Benyon Estate property
A valuable new service for the residents of De Beauvoir is being provided in a Benyon Estate property, following the opening of children’s nursery run by Greenwood Hackney!
The nursery, which already has premises in the area, needed to expand to meet growing demand for places and has taken space at 21 Englefield Road. It will look after children aged from one to two with older children cared for at the nursery’s other site.
Directors Rich Weltch and Edward Prior took over the Benyon Estate building in September last year and carried out a refit, including the installation of soft play areas for the children. The nursery officially opened in March.
Rich said: “We already had a nursery about a three-minute walk away and we had a huge waiting list for places. We found this building through a property ad. It suits us perfectly – and the Benyon staff are so lovely to work with.
“It can sometimes be a bit unnerving starting to work with a large property-owning business but we have found the move to the Estate property has worked out really well.”
Greenwood prepares children for school through a curriculum that is based around the natural world and the environmental principles used in forest schools. “We bring the outside inside,” Rich said.
The nursery also offers up to five meals a day for the children, from breakfast to lunch and tea – including mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks, all provided by on-site cooks.
Pressure for nursery places in De Beauvoir is particularly high among people who live and work in the area, including at De Beauvoir Block, and we are pleased to have been able to provide premises for Greenwood.
Our Head of Commercial Property Josh Summers said: “We know from many of our residential tenants that there is a big demand for nursery places in the area, so it is good to be able to provide accommodation for Greenwood as they expand to meet local needs.”
