Get into the festive spirit with Christmas fairs in Hackney

Tis the season to get into the festive spirit, and what better way to start than with a Christmas Fair!

We’ve compiled a list of some of this year’s events taking place across Hackney, from pop up art stalls to Japanese markets – there’s something to get everyone ready for ‘the most wonderful time of the year’.

 

De Beauvoir Christmas Fair and Trail – Saturday 30th November

Organised by the De Beauvoir Association, the annual Christmas Fair and Trail is returning to the streets of De Beauvoir from 11am – 3pm and St Peter’s Crypt from 11am – 5pm with a selection of stalls, ranging from festive crafts, delicious culinary delights and homemade preserves, warm mulled wine, plus fantastic gifts for someone special, or a treat for yourself.  

The East London Singers will be outside St Peter’s Crypt at 12noon for a seasonal singalong, and will be performing again at 2pm at 56 Ufton Road. Make sure you pop along for a carol, or a two.

 

Yokimono Japanese Christmas Market – Friday 6th – Sunday 8th December

Translating to ‘good things’, the Yokimono Christmas Market will be held at The Factory Dalston with a variety of goodies for sale including ceramics, stationary, clothing and accessories. While you shop, enjoy live music from Japanese musicians, bonsai demonstrations and traditional tea ceremonies.

Entry is free, but people are asked to register their attendance in advance.

King Henry’s Walk Garden Winter Fair – Saturday 7th December

The community garden on King Henry’s Walk will open its gates for its special Winter Fair on 7th December from 11am – 3pm.

There will be wreath making, mulled wine and mince pies, children’s games, stalls and much more. Families are also invited to visit St Nicholas, who will be handing out gifts to children from his woodland grotto.

Christmas Art and Design Market – Saturday 14th December

Come down to the North London Makers’ Market in Abney Hall to get your hands on beautiful pieces of art and prints, plus ceramics, jewellery and more, all in time for Christmas.

Columbia Road late night Christmas shopping – from Wednesday 27th November

Every Wednesday in the run up to Christmas, independent shops on Columbia Road in Hackney will be hosting late night shopping sessions from 5pm – 9pm to help people secure gifts for loved ones ready for Christmas.

Enjoy the twinkling lights of the street’s Christmas tree and treat yourself to a tasty mince pie and mulled wine.
