Gym opens in De Beauvoir Block
A modern gym, flooded with natural light and designed to meet the fitness needs of a wide range of clients, is opening at The Block this month (September 2025).
RNGD Studio is owned and run by fitness professional David Lewis who has nearly 20 years’ experience in the sector and brings his unique skills in biomedicine, nutrition and strength and conditioning to the gym at 90 De Beauvoir Road.
The Studio offers private personal training for clients who want a bespoke fitness regime tailored to their precise requirements, with one-to-one support from either David or personal trainers Alfie Hale and Hannah Bardall. Two further trainers are due to be appointed soon.
The private members gym, available from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, will be available to the entire De Beauvoir community, with bespoke benefits for Block tenants.
David, who competed in Jui Jitsu, the Japanese martial art, when he was younger, has a degree in biomedical science and is a certified Metabolic Fitness Practitioner and Level 3 Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
He had been running a gym from another address in De Beauvoir Town when he met our Estate Manager Edward Benyon, and was invited to take a look at the space in The Block. David said: “It suited us perfectly. The whole idea was we wanted to create a gym for people who don’t like gyms.
“The machinery is quite imposing, and we wanted to soften the atmosphere a little bit and make going to the gym a more welcoming experience. We have amazing natural light – which is almost unheard of for a gym in London – most are in basements.”
David is hoping the gym will prove popular with the commercial tenants at The Block, who can book their training time to fit in with their working hours. And they can keep an eye on the time while they train – the gym’s large window offers a great view of the clock at St Peter’s Church, right next door.
